My 86 year old grandfather underwent a larynectomy for throat cancer last week. The surgery lasted over 12 hours; incisions were made from his ears and down his neck to the top of his shoulders on both sides. In addition, they took skin grafts on both his right forearm and leg. I knew the extent of
For the first time, death became a part of my reality. It was no longer picturing the world without the person. Death adn all it brings. The days that lead up to death; the burden of having to rely on someone to help you eat, seeing your loved bruised, swollen with stitches and staples covering their body. The actual moment of death. The grieving process after when you realized that the person was really gone. The empty seat on Thanksgiving. Its too hard.

Link between Mother's Gum Disease and Baby's Death
According to this article, a pregnant woman's gum disease can be harmful for the baby. The bacteria from the gums travels thru the bloodstream to the placenta and because of special conditions of the womb, the fetus can be more susceptible. So note to pregnant women and future pregnant women - when you become pregnant or are trying to get pregnant, take time to go see your dentist to make sure everything is healthy. And don't forget to brush and floss recently.

Do You Think If We Caught Your Fart and Put It In the Fridge It Would Marinate and Grow Even More Potent?
From The Times of India:
"A flatulent pig sparked a gas emergency in southern Australia Thursday when a farmer mistook its odours for a leaking pipe, officials said.
Fifteen firefighters and two trucks were called to a property at Axedale in central Victoria state after reports of a gas leak, the Country Fire Service said."
When asked what caused the pig to have such pungent odors, the farmer replied, "I think its because it just eats and sleeps all day long".

What Did You Call Me?
The Pussycats scored quite a coup when they got a chance to collaborate with the multiple Oscar winner A.R. Rahman on his Oscar winning song. Unfortunately Rahman and the Pussycats are singing two different songs. Rahman sings "Jai Ho" while Nicole Scherzinger sings of the far lesser known but still within the family "Jay Ho". Oh well, I'm sure the next time an Oscar winning composer will want to have his Oscar winning song destroyed by a bunch of transvestites look-a-likes you girls will nail it!

Singing in Korea = Ultimate Love Song
Apparently, Stephen Colbert has had a long standing rivalry against Korean pop sensation Rain. In an effort to get a leg up on Rain for Time magazine's most influential people, he made his own Korean music video. Who knew there was such a heated battle between the two? Not I... and I bet Rain doesn't either.
